I look cuter than normal today, huh?!
Now I have purchased butter at Costco before. In fact, I purchase it there regularly. I always thought my choices were salted or unsalted. So while recently shopping, I just grabbed a box of salted butter and threw it in the cart with $200 worth of "gotta-have-great-deals". What I didn't know was that I picked up the steroid butter. Does anyone know if this is the new norm at Costco? Or did I just not realize that there is another option? There is 4 STICKS of butter in this brick. Yes, it have cutting marks and such, but who needs a pound of butter at a time very often? Yikes.
So any-who...I made cookies today. I needed a treat for our family night and consulted my handy dandy cookbook. I didn't want to go to the store, so I picked a recipe that I had all the ingredients for. Yes, I really keep peanut butter chips and white chocolate chips on hand for a rainy day. And Skittles, but the recipe didn't call for those.
Now this recipe isn't posted on ourbestbites.com, but I facebooked Sara and Kate to see if I could post it here. If they say yes, I will update my post with the recipe. For those that have the cookbook, it is on page 211.
As far as the preparation of the dough, it's just a basic cookie dough. However, I may or may not have released a caveman-like growl/grunt when I saw the words "in a separate bowl whisk together" while discussing the dry ingredients. (I promised to make the recipes as written, and I always skip the whisk together part. Following directions means extra time and extra dishes.)
So here is the yummy dough, all ready to be formed into cookies.
Several years ago, I was introduced to the lovely cookie scoop tool. If you don't have one, you need one. Not want one -- need one. See how beautiful they make your dough balls look? Nice and uniform! And your hands stay super clean. The only downside is that they aren't as easy to lick off as a spoon...
This recipe only take 8 minutes to bake. Love that! And viola, cookies!
Now my neighborhood is full of kids. And when they smell cookies baking, they come out of nowhere and see if your kids can play. This is what I found at my door today:
Typically, I have no problem saying no to begging children. But today, I needed taste testers, and they were very willing participants.
Yes, they all really did get one. But apparently boys think it is funny to try to steal the cookies of girl? Silly boys. Don't mess with a girl when chocolate is involved.
And the verdict? All eleven kids gave it a thumbs up!
Confession, I love chocolate. I mean I like chocolate so much that I would bathe in it, given the opportunity. However, I'm not a big white chocolate fan. If its drizzled on something, no problem. But I don't eat white chocolate in block, chips, bars, etc. So I wasn't sure how I would feel about these cookies, but I liked them. I didn't love them, but I did like them. My only hold up was the white chocolate and only when multiple chips were close to each other. Perhaps, I need to try these cookies again with semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of white chocolate...that sounds delicious, but will probably have to wait until I get through making all the recipes in this book!
Until tomorrow!
